What is Abortion?
Abortion is a big issue for women because a lot of people believe that it should not be legal. Many of them feel aborting an unwanted child or killing an unwanted child should be against the law.
Is abortion fair and humane?
First of all, before a person makes a decision about abortions, they should know exactly what it is. The dictionary defines Abortion as: The termination of pregnancy and expulsion of an embryo or of a fetus that is incapable of survival. This simply means, inducing birth to kill the fetus, or baby before it is carried to full term. Often times early in a pregnancy, a woman will go to the doctor, and take a pill, and doing that will terminate pregnancy. If it is later, then she has to have the baby surgically removed from her body. If it is too late, then she will be unable to have the procedure.
Not every woman is able to receive abortion. If a woman were too far along into her pregnancy, she would be considered unable to have an abortion. Often times, doctors will recommended girls under the age of 16, and over the age of 35 not have an abortion because at those ages, it might prevent them from ever having more children.
There are several debates in regards to abortion and its legality. Generally there are two sides to the argument. Those on the Pro Life side of the argument believe that abortions should be illegal. Usually Pro Life activists believe abortion is not only murder, but also an immoral act. In contrast, those on the Pro Choice side believe that abortion should be legal. They feel that individuals should have the right to choose what happens with their body. In addition, they argue that abortion is not murder due to the baby not being fully developed.
Pro life activist position
Pro Life activists feel that abortion should be considered murder. They consider a baby a human as soon as conception occurs. Those against abortion also usually have religious reasons backing their beliefs. They also claim that research proves abortion can lead to complications with future pregnancies and even breast cancer.
Oftentimes young mothers are unable to cope with a child due to lack of resources such as money, and unstable housing conditions. If a person feels they will be unable to provide for a child, they should retain the right to choose whether or not to give birth to it. In addition, there are instances in which a woman is sexual assaulted and becomes pregnant. Individuals who are victims of such crimes should not be faced with the trauma of bearing a child that was created from such a cruel event. A child born into such a home may experience difficulties such as dealing with a parent who may feel uncomfortable with the child, and growing up in a one parent home may lead to social and emotional complications for the child.
People should be more responsible with their actions and the only abortion that I could justify is that if mother cannot give birth to a child and her life is in danger. But because there are several of different situations there should be several of different solutions. Woman who thinks about abortion, she knows whether she will be able to take care of her children or not. Secondly she should speak with her family and relatives, because they might help her in this situation. If none of that works, the last thing would be to speak with children care home staff and get advice from them, because they may help to raise the child. If no one can help, then I think it’s up to mother whether she wants to give birth or not.
